Drive for taking power from or imparting power to the rotors of a machine converting between mechanical and electrical energy having a ring (1) to the outside of which are attached rotor blades (2), with a toothed belt (3) on the inside. Up to six generators (5) are so held in a suitable frame (4) that the toothed discs (6) on the shaft stumps engage the toothed belt as the rotors turn. USE/ADVANTAGE - Drive which may be used in a wind-powered electric generator or in a lightweight one-man helicopter powered by a 5kW combustion engine.
